I started my BR career at Haywards Heath Cable Shop on 9th July 1979.  The depot closed in 1990 and we moved to Three Bridges.  When we were clearing-out the clutter from the two old offices, I found two notebooks from previous cable jointers.  Remarkably, they contained hand drawn drawings of the DC network from the 1950s!
There are many features and layouts that have now gone.  The holy grail for me is the electrified Ardingly Branch to H`Keynes.  I thought it was fed from two breakers at Copyhold TP hut but it`s actually just one.
